The issue is now fully resolved and posts are going out as normal with no backlog.
Our team is still identifying a way to manage the GDPR notice in the event that it recurs for customers and will roll out an update shortly to how we manage posting for you (no action on your part required). If you are in the Instagram app and you see a notice about the data policy, please accept it!
We continue to progress through the backlog of posts. As a result, some posts are delayed, and our team continues to monitor the situation closely.
We can confirm it looks to be related to the GDPR screen (looks like this) that just got rolled out to all accounts.
We are continuing to progress through the backlog of posts caused by the Instagram outage from earlier. Videos in particular are slow to upload, which suggests IG isn’t back to normal yet.
We think we’ve identified the reason that Instagram has had a couple of outages in the last 48h - a new GDPR privacy policy acceptance screen has appeared now after today’s issues for some customers facepalm. Internal guess is that it might be upgrades on their end to support this that has caused the issues.
As an aside, we recommend making sure you occasionally login to your account on a device in case things like this are there – it seems like the GDPR inbox armageddon continues.

It seems like the issue on Instagram’s end is sporadic – we are seeing some posts going out fine, albeit a bit more slowly than normal. There remains a backlog of posts for us to get through, which will delay scheduled posts.
At current rate, we anticipate the backlog will clear over the next hour or two (with us progressively catching up to “live”).
Users (including us!) continue to experience and report general “slowness” of the Instagram interface, which is impacting how quickly we get through the backlog.
It appears Instagram is again experiencing an outage (yesterday: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tech/6512710/instagram-down-not-working-app-feed/ – today you can see a large number of users raising issues as of ~25 mins ago https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=instagram%20down&src=typd).
We are seeing degraded service and posts not going out as quickly as we are having trouble logging into accounts for you – as a result, posts are delayed from going out.
We will update as the situation progresses.
